1. Core Principles: 100% Privacy-First & Local Processing
- Zero Browsing History Collection: Zento Reader does NOT record, track, transmit, or sell your browsing history, page URLs, search queries, or the text content of the articles you read.
- Client-Side Execution: All contrast evaluations (WCAG 2.1 AAA 15:1), dark/sepia/OLED stylesheet injections, and floating Table of Contents (Smart TOC) extractions are executed locally within your browser sandbox.
- No Remote Code: The extension contains no remote scripts, no
eval(), and no dynamic external CDN script loaders, adhering strictly to Chrome Manifest V3 specifications.
2. Permissions Justification & Usage Declarations
To deliver its core accessibility, contrast healing, and reading navigation features, Zento Reader requests the following specific browser permissions:
activeTab: Allows the extension to apply user-selected eye-care stylesheets and outline navigation to the active tab upon explicit user interaction (e.g. clicking the popup or pressing keyboard shortcuts).scripting: Required to inject sanitized, CSP-compliant CSS stylesheets and optical contrast adjustments directly into document frames atdocument_startto eliminate blinding white flashes.storage: Enableschrome.storage.localandchrome.storage.syncto locally save your visual preferences (chosen theme, image brightness level, custom URL pattern rules, daily TOC reading counter, and license activation status).identity: An auxiliary permission used strictly to query the signed-in Google account email address to simplify Pro license activation for paying customers. We do not share, transmit, or use this email address for advertising, tracking, or marketing.alarms: Schedules a lightweight, non-tracking background task (once every 24 hours) to fetch the public denylist of revoked/refunded license keys from our official CDN.<all_urls>(Host Permissions): Allows readers to apply eye comfort themes and generate floating Smart TOC navigation across any web page or domain of their choice.
3. Payment Processing & Financial Information
Upgrades to Zento Reader Pro are processed through industry-standard, PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways (such as Stripe or ExtensionPay).ZentoMedia does not collect, process, or store credit card numbers, banking details, or billing addresses. All financial transactions are encrypted and handled directly by the payment processor.
4. Google Limited Use Compliance Disclosure
Zento Reader strictly adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:
- We only use permissions and data to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the Extension's single-purpose user interface.
- We do NOT transfer, sell, or license user data to third parties, data brokers, or advertising networks.
